Done for now

So, I finally finished the SoulShattered 1 rewrite. There is still one scene that has to be completed but I’ll do that on the final pass for publishing. It’s gonna be like 500 words or so at most, so it doesn’t worry me too much. And it’ll need a final pass anyway. I’m trying to do a big editing pass after the first draft, and then another quick final pass before publishing just to make extra sure that I’m not missing anything. Way more than I used to do for Remade Anew back then, and I honestly think it is really helping a lot.

Like, I only did a quick pass for typos in SoulShattered 1 on 2021 and now that I went through the whole thing again it was so awful to read how terrible it was. Like, you could see the improvement throughout the book. It started out a mess and I had to manually rewrite all of it up to around the 60% mark and then it was just simpler corrections and changing two scenes that needed to be remade from scratch.

Now I need to finish the Blood Song first Draft. Even though to be honest all I want to do is jump straight to SoulShattered 2 because I’m so excited for that one. It’s gonna be a fast romp through most of the world for that one too, even more than SoulShattered 0.

But I desperately need to finish Blood Song. If I don’t have at least the first edit version of it, I cannot publish Falling Stars and I definitely cannot set up Morning Star either, which I haven’t even finished outlining. God, this is driving me insane.

But at least SoulShattered 1 is done, and that really takes a weight off my chest. I think the way I’m gonna plan things for August is that I’m gonna start on the Blood Song edits and that should kickstart the inspiration to finish the damn thing already. I have about 15 scenes or so to finish, but they are all the climax* so it takes up 80% of the total book writing time for me. The climax always does. I could finish books in like a month if I could go through the climax with the same speed as I go through the rest of the book.

And while I’m doing that, I’ll jump in and out of the SoulShattered 2 outline and see how things go there. I like bouncing here and there between projects because it keeps my mind active. Otherwise I get bored and end up not doing anything productive.

Good thing is that after that annoying flu I and my entire family had (actually we’re kinda suspicious that it might have been covid), my health has been improving a lot and I’ve not had any relapses in that regard. Knock on wood it won’t bother me too much this month.

*Yeah, my climaxes are really, really damn long. I hate it too.
