Finally Rest
So, I ended up desperately taking last Friday off. I needed it so much and thankfully my boss is super cool about me taking off some days here and there (it’s me that loves to stress and refuses to take time off).
I used my Friday to go explore a valley near where I live. There’s a great expanse of forests nearby, with recreational parks in the valleys. Mom and I went to the last one because I saw it on Facebook a while ago and it’s AMAZING. I loved it much more than I thought I would. It was a hidden place in the middle of the virgin forest, with a ton of pretty things and very fancy looking restaurants. We rode some horses and had a lot of fun. Afterwards we passed by the house, got one of my sisters, and went to the movies to watch the latest Fast and Furious movie*.
Then, on Saturday we went to a waterpark on a bit of a whim. We weren’t very well prepared, but still had a bunch of fun and it was exciting.
I was very happy that we managed to sneak in those two outings, because I will soon be having some serious expenses, so we won’t be going anywhere until at least the end of the year. Pretty sad, but oh well, at least it’s for a good cause.
Also, my health has been taking a turn for the worst. To be honest, along with the stress from work and from family, I have been neglecting my health, exercise, and diet. Because my health is very weak, I cannot let myself do that for too long before my body starts collapsing and worrying things start happening. So, I’m gonna try to track my diet again and look to move some more.
On the topic of writing, I was still blocked on the whole Blood Song front. So much so that I ended up doing the final pass editing on Fragmented Soul (I DID do a first pass edit, and even had notes, thank GOD!) and was having a lot of fun. I had forgotten just how magical and whimsical Fragments is when terrible things aren’t happening. I love it so much, and I also love that it’s only around 90k, so not a crazy amount of stuff to edit unlike Blood Song, which is unfortunately gonna run me at about 130k again despite all my hopes against it.
But really, Fragments is surprisingly enjoyable, and it’s kind of amazing to see just how much improvement this last editing pass is doing for the narrative. I always complain that my stories are great ideas with awful execution, but these edits are helping out so much on that front, I get into a good mood just thinking about it.
Sadly, SoulShattered 1 is gonna need almost a full rewrite and the thought of it haunts me.
*We are all huge fans, but this movie was a bit underwhelming and unbelievable compared to the other ones, and that’s saying a lot considering we had cars in space last time.
