Start Of Earthquake Season

Well, hi my dears. I have returned, almost a month later, but I have returned! Right on time for the yearly Mexican earthquake festival. Will we get another devastating earthquake on the exact same day as the past few times? Maybe! Everything can happen in this magical country!

I’m actually not that upset about not having posted here for so long because, unlike I expected, August was actually a very productive month despite how busy it was at my job and in my family.

Here’s a listing of everything that I managed to complete last month.

  • Finished the Soulshattered Zero final editing
  • Finished Rewrite of Soulshattered 1
  • Finished Final Edit for First Encounters (Remade Anew Zero)
  • Finished First Draft of Christmas Stalker (Remade Anew 0.5)
  • Finished First Edit of Christmas Stalker (Remade Anew 0.5)
  • Finished First Edit of Wings of Vengeance (Jake Towers Zero)
  • Finished First Edit of Wings of Truth (Jake Towers 1)
  • Finished First Draft of Wings of Farewell (Jake Towers 2) (I could have sword that this first draft was done, but while editing the rest of it, I came to the end and there was no end *shrug*)
  • Finished First Edit of Wings of Farewell (Jake Towers 2)
  • Wrote 6k on Wings of Stone (Jake Towers 3)
  • Wrote 1.2K on Soulshattered 2

That is a pretty impressive list for a single month where I also had several family events such as my niece’s baptism, my dad’s birthday, and a ton of urgent stuff at work. All of that along with other upsetting personal things in my family and other stuff, like some trouble with some people I bought some land from. Overall, I feel really beat up. All this week I’ve had headaches because I keep gritting my teeth because of stress.

But it’s not stress because of writing. Actually, writing really relaxes me. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t had so much editing and writing to do through the month. I would have gone insane maybe from all the nonsense that I had to deal with. In fact, I was enjoying the editing a lot, but then when I ran out of stuff to edit and tried to do some first draft writing on Wings of Stone, it honestly felt So Good. Seriously guys, you have no idea how relaxing and fun it is for me to write. Nothing is as fun, as exciting, as interesting as writing. Not going to the movies, not cooking, not chatting, nothing is as good as writing a new story for me.

Sadly the outline for WoS is not very good. Actually, it’s pretty bad. It has a lot of plot holes, and while I have the ending very clear in my mind, it’s very difficult to draft out the steps to arrive there. I thought that it was further along, but the pieces don’t fit together, the scenes don’t really make much sense, and I’m gonna have to redraft the scenes that I already have to make them create a more fluid narrative. Honestly, I would have done like 10k by now in WoS if the outline had been on point.

You might have noticed that any progress on Blood Song is conspicuously absent from that list, and the reason is that in terms of Blood Song progress, we have no progress on Blood Song.

I’m stuck. I’m honestly stuck. And for some reason I just cannot go through it. And I think that the problem is down to the outline.

It pisses me off because I’ve been wrestling with the outline for months, and the damn thing still doesn’t work. I feel like those guys who spend months working on their cars and then after a lot of fanfare they try to start it and the damn thing won’t start. I’m starting to fear that this book might run me around 150k, which would drive me INSANE. Like, that’s a whole other damn book. When is this story going to end?

At this point, I’m just getting really desperate with Blood Song. The more I look at it, the more work it needs, and the more it feels as if I’m only at about half of the book, with no hope of finishing.

That’s why I love the Jake Tower books. At between 30k-50k, they are easy, fun, and I can go through several of them without breaking a sweat.

I honestly can’t wait until I’m ready to publish.

Anyway, here’s my wishlist for what I want to achieve in September:

  • Finish Blood Song (please, god, I want to be done with this thing already)
  • Finish the remake of the WoS Outline
  • Finish WoS First Draft (Hopefully will only be 50k at most? Yes? Please?)
  • Finish Final File for SoulShattered Zero
  • Finish Final File for Fallen Stars
  • Finish Final File for Wings of Vengeance
  • Finish Final File for Wings of Truth
  • Start Scheduling publication dates
  • Finish some random admin stuff for Lioncrown that I’ve been procrastinating about
  • Publish my first videos

I’ve been working on making videos during this last month. It’s something new and different that distracts me from when I get stuck on writing and the job stuff. There are a lot of things that I’ve been wanting to talk about for a long while so I’m hoping to get something done with that. I’ve been messing around with DaVinci Resolve and it’s not as complicated as I thought that it would be. So, it’s exciting to do something completely new. Also, I’m hoping for the videos to help me with my english pronunciations. Maybe if I get better my Dragon will not be a nightmare when I dictate.

Well, we can always hope.
